Malaysian Education is a FUCKING PIECE OF CAKE

Whoever thinks that Malaysian education is tough is misinformed (or rock stupid). Well, at least in secondary level anyway.

After a year and a half in law school, I has finally dawned upon that I've had it easy in Malaysia. To do well, all you need is to memorise your shit better than other people, and poof, you will probably get good grades.

Such a simple formula. Like instant soup, just add hot water.

It is a whole new kettle of fish. Memorising your shit will at most get you a pass. To actually do well, you need to do some thinking. Critical fucking thinking. finding microscopic loopholes, extracting seemingly insignificant pieces of information and blowing it up to come up with revolutionary legal arguments, and generally, just doing a fuckload of thinking.

And Aussie lecturers don't make things any easier. You don't get spoon-fed any more. They just point you to a direction and expect you to find your own way.

Fuck. My head hurts.

But, after 20 years of inactivity, perhaps it is a good thing that I'm actually using my brains now.

Ian, out.

Studying contracts....

It;s gonna be a long night

  1. "Malaysian" education? What makes you say that? just because you happen to be malaysian and happen to be struggling with uni? or do you have actual proof that malaysian education is that inferior compared to other nations? shouldnt you have started with all pre-uni education in general before narrowing it down to malaysian education?

From my experiences studying abroad, malaysian students actually do better than "locals" here. While the "locals" still cling to "malaysian" habits such as memorising and counting on being spoon fed. how is that so? i really doubt they did their secondary education in malaysia. truth is, everyone experiences a change when setting foot on uni ground for the first time, regardless of nationality. it is up to the INDIVIDUAL to handle himself and adapt well.

Please dont embarrass malaysia further with your outrageous claims. malaysian education has its weak points, yes. but be more neutral and objective when making your points. be more..... "intellectual", as your blog name suggests you to be. only then will you be taken seriously. until the you're just another angry punk ass kid.

  2. why hello cyber trooper. I never knew i would get visitors even without promoting my blog anywhere.

for the record, i never meant that Malaysian education was inferior. Perhaps I should have mentioned that my other Malaysian friends in other courses was doing fine and well.

The main purpose of this entry was a rant on how tough law school is, and how my background affected my legal education. again, for the record, I am not struggling. I am in fact an above average student. But all in all,the local students do a better job in finding loopholes and interesting arguments than the say, 'asian' students, while asian students like myself do a much better job memorising cases.

Law school is tough. Only the best of the best get admitted into law school. including the locals. competition is cut-throat.

Cyber trooper, don't pounced on every piece of writing with Malaysia in its article and where people swear in. And also read the disclaimer on the info bar.

and don't come back to this blog. You and your kind disgust me.
